The Libyan Government tasks GPC with an institutional assessment and recommendations report of 7 key sectors across Government.
In the context of the Libya Spatial Data Infrastructure (LSDI Master Plan Initiative), the Libyan Government hired GPC to conduct a special study for 7 sectors in the country to assess their institutional readiness to embark in digital transformation and capacity building strategic direction. Those sectors were:
- Municipal/ local government
- Electrical utility
- Telecom sector incumbent agency
- National statistical agency
- National survey agency
- Remote sensing agency
- Postal office agency
GPC leveraged its international network of associations and partnerships where subject-matter-experts (SMEs) were mobilised to conduct a rapid assessment for each sector, identify institutional gaps, and provide initial recommendations. The GPC team added value by structuring and explaining the interconnections and interdependencies among these sectors and the utilization of the LSDI towards encouraging more cross-government coordination and interdisciplinary engagement in addressing the Country’s development challenges.
This activity assisted the Government in developing further strategies towards institutional capacity building in those key government organisations.
