Geospatial PMO / Business Consultant

Position Overview:
The Geospatial PMO / Business Consultant is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and strategic alignment of geospatial projects, ensuring they meet business goals and client expectations. This role combines geospatial expertise with project management oversight to drive successful project delivery and operational efficiency. The consultant will work closely with clients, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to implement geospatial solutions, optimize workflows, and develop insights that support informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management and PMO Oversight:

- Lead geospatial projects from initiation through completion, overseeing timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure projects meet goals and deadlines.
- Establish and maintain PMO standards, best practices, and tools, fostering consistency and quality in project management across geospatial initiatives.
- Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocations, proactively identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Geospatial Business Consulting:

- Provide strategic guidance to clients on leveraging geospatial technology to meet their business objectives, identifying opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.
- Conduct needs assessments and feasibility studies, advising on the design, development, and implementation of customized geospatial solutions.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to develop geospatial roadmaps and strategies aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
- Data Analysis and Reporting:

- Utilize GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) to perform spatial data analysis, generating insights that support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Develop reports, maps, and dashboards to communicate data-driven insights effectively to stakeholders.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and project metrics, providing regular updates to management and clients on project progress and outcomes.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:

- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication and alignment of project expectations, timelines, and deliverables.
- Facilitate workshops, presentations, and meetings with clients and internal teams, addressing project updates, challenges, and recommendations.
- Support training initiatives for end-users, enabling them to use geospatial tools and solutions effectively.
- Business Process Optimization:

- Analyze current business processes and workflows, identifying areas where geospatial solutions can drive efficiency and add value.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline data integration, enhance data quality, and promote data governance practices.
- Design and implement changes that optimize operational processes and improve the overall efficiency of project and business operations.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geography, GIS, Urban Planning, Business Administration, Project Management, Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
- Experience:

- 7-10 years of experience in geospatial implementation/consulting, project management, or PMO roles, with a proven track record in managing complex geospatial projects.
- Certifications:

- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Technical Skills:

- Proficient in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Asana, JIRA).
- Familiarity with data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and experience in creating interactive reports and dashboards.
- Knowledge of SQL or Python for data processing and analysis is a plus.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
